Dementia Justice Canada is pleased to host a webinar for members of the Prince Edward Island criminal law bar, including Crown prosecutors and defence counsel. This two-hour session will provide an introduction to the intersection of dementia and the criminal justice system, with a focus on the medical, legal, and ethical considerations involved when an accused person is living with dementia. Topics will include the behavioural symptoms relevant to alleged criminal conduct and legal issues such as fitness to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and sentencing considerations. Participants will engage in hypothetical case studies and a moderated Q&A.

The session will be facilitated by Jennifer Moir, Founder and CEO of Age Well Solutions.

Registration is currently open to members of the Prince Edward Island criminal law bar, including Crown prosecutors and defence counsel. If space permits, registration may later be extended to other justice sector professionals.
Attendance is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis (suggested contribution of $100 CAD). Your contribution helps enhance accessibility and supports Dementia Justice Canada's ongoing education, advocacy, and law reform initiatives.
